A man called Kevin came today and talked to us about astronomy and the solar system. He told us some very interesting facts about this topic.
Did you know?
Pluto is no longer a planet, it is now a dwarf planet. And if you wanted to visit Pluto it would take you 10 years to get there.
The names of all eight planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.
Another interesting fact is that there are 100 octillion stars in the solar system and the sun is not a planet, it is actually a dwarf star. The planet closest to the sun is Mercury and the planet farthest away from the sun is Neptune. The craziest fact of all is that Jupiter has 67 moons on it and I thought there was only 1 moon in the world!
